Slindon, West Sussex

Budget: Not Disclosed

South Downs National Park

Just to the north of the busy A27 trunk road, Slindon is an ancient Saxon village that is managed as a National Trust Estate and divided by the A29 into two halves: new and old. This part of Sussex is facing huge development along the coast and house prices in attractive downland villages are sky high. Slindon's community want to be able to keep local families and attract younger residents. A community land trust have therefore formed and are working with their agent Action in rural Sussex to agree the heads of terms for a site owned by the National Trust. Our role has been to show the CLT how a new arrangement of homes could have the same character as the village street by reusing old Saxon landscape patterns with new houses that are fun to live in, cheap to run and attractive to the National Park's planners.
