Located a five minute drive south of Lewes and under the escarpment of the Kingston Downs Rodmell is a expensive and attractive Sussex village that is most well known as the home of Leonard and Virginia Woolf. We were asked to help consider whether a community land trust development might be possible for a site in the middle of the village. A busy road that cut through Rodmell has drained any form of safe street life and there is sadly no green or junction for the community to converge. Our proposal was for a gently curved crescent of houses joined by a new pedestrian lane that leads to communal gardens and an orchard. The feasibility of a CLT in Rodmell is still being considered.
